From choosing the right driving instructor right through to the practical test requirements and beyond, our guides and information will help educate them on the whole process from start to finish.

How often should I have driving lessons?

The amount of driving lessons you have will often depend on factors such as cost, your availability, and the availability of your driving instructor.

It is widely believed that having two or three hours a week, along with practice in between is one of the most effective ways of learning to drive. It is also worth bearing in mind however that you will be required to successfully complete the practical theory test before embarking on your practical driving test, therefore combining your lessons with your theory study will help you to prepare for both of the test elements at the same time.

How much will they cost?

The cost of your driving lessons will vary depending on where you live and from instructor to instructor. To get an idea of the pricing for lessons you should be able to find a number of local driving instructors in your local newspaper. Many driving schools and independent instructors usually offer a number of offers and ‘free lesson’ deals to new students.

Whilst the price of your driving lessons will play a large factor in your decision to choose a specific instructor it shouldn’t be the only factor. When comparing instructors don’t just focus on price, but enquire more as to their pass rate, and whether they have qualifications that are over and above that of the ADI certificate. Ask around your friends and family for any referrals, word of mouth is often the most recommended way of finding a great driving instructor.
